Norah is a walking encyclopedia of all things Barcelona, from the city’s rich history to its incredible architecture and ever-evolving gastro-scene. So what are this local’s “Barcelona must-dos” for 2017?
Born in Galicia on the northwestern coast of Spain, Norah grew up on the move and lived in 15 of Spain’s 17 different states throughout her childhood and youth. She knows the country like the back of her hand, and despite all the wonderful places she could have landed, she chose Barcelona as her home.
We’re consulting our guides on their absolute must-dos for 2017 in Barcelona, and it looks like it’s going to be a great year! From day trips to must-try restaurants, check out Norah’s Barcelona-inspired new years resolutions!

Food
At the top of my list for 2017 is finally trying Compartir and Bodega 1900, two restaurants I’ve been dying to visit. The first for the Cadaqués-Costa Brava tribute they make in their dishes, and the second for the Galician seafood-inspired tapas, reinvented!
Day Trip
There are too many day trips from Barcelona that are calling my name! At the beginning of the year, I am definitely going to visit the Alt Camp, a gorgeous area southwest of Barcelona, to cross two musts off my life! First, I want to partake in a traditional calçotada, which is like a winter onion barbecue feast (and a must for anyone who sets foot in and around Barcelona in the winter!). Secondly, I want to visit Santes Creus, a marvelous Cistercian monastery founded in 1168 and a huge part of the Crown of Aragon heritage.

Culture
I plan to spend many afternoons strolling around several exhibitions in town like the Endgame: Duchamp, chess and the avant-gardes at the wonderful Fundación Miró museum, one of the city’s best museums.
Celebration
The New Year starts with a personal tradition that I will continue this year: snowshoeing in the Pyrenees. Just two and a half hours from the city and there are amazingly spectacular views opening up amidst a beautiful snowy alpine setting–normally with clear blue skies!

Day Trip
A must for 2017? Make as many weekend trips as possible to the Costa Brava, my current obsession for food, history, and fabulous hikes.

Querida Norah,
This is Mutsuko & Arild who did your history tour last November (and enjoyed enormously!).
We are going to visit your home, Galicia this November and would love to stay at your parents hotel (if I remember correctly) and visit some Albariño wineries.
Could we talk?
We’ve passed your message on to Norah! So happy to hear you enjoyed your tour with her 🙂
