So, where are you going to find a spot to store your luggage? Glad you asked! Here’s a list of the best solutions for safe luggage storage in Florence, and make the most out of your holiday!
Luggage Storage in Oltrarno
If you’re meeting us for our tour in Piazza Santo Spirito, you have an easy solution.
Just five minutes from our meeting point, there’s an automatic luggage storage facility. The storage space itself is open 24/7, but it’s inside a shopping arcade that closes its gates at night. But don’t panic: there’s an easy way to find access on their website.
You are charged for each locker at an hourly rate until the sixth hour. After that, you’ll have to pay the price for the entire day. You can book your locker on the Luggage Point website and won’t have to pay until you get to the storage facility!
Luggage Storage in the City Center
If you’re around the Duomo, Uffizi or Piazza della Signoria, you can easily go to the Stow Your Bag storage space. You can recognize it from the yellow duck.
It’s fully automatic and you can pay by credit card upon your arrival. You can reserve your spot online at an hourly rate of around €1.54 per hour/bag. The same service is also available in two other spots around the train station (see below).
Luggage Storage near the Florence Train Station
Santa Maria Novella (SMN) is Florence’s main train station, right near the city center. If you’re planning to leave Florence by train, bus, or by taking the tram to the airport (even if you’re driving!), you can easily leave your luggage here.
There are two Stow Your Bag points around Santa Maria Novella. There’s also a KiPoint storage unit inside the train station. It’s a little bit more expensive than other services (€7 per day per bag), but it’s the no-fuss solution if you’re traveling by train.
“Uber” for Suitcases
If you really don’t trust automatic service and believe in a world where machine and man are at war, you may find the perfect service in Luggage Hero: the Uber of luggage storages.
It’s a network of hotels, shops, laundry rooms that provide travelers with access to their storage units. Book your spot online and you’re ready to go!
The service costs €5 per day/bag, and offers quite a wide selection of spots around the city.
Another similar network is Radical Storage. It has the same price, and it seems that the same spots are affiliated.
Which one should you choose? Both are perfectly legit, so just pick one depending on the availability.
Be careful, though: the businesses that form the Luggage Hero and Radical Storage network have specific opening hours, and you may need to adjust your plans accordingly.
The Age-Old Solution
And finally, a little tip: ask your hotel to store your luggage. They don’t always offer this solution, or you might need to pay a small fee, but what’s the harm in asking? You may find that it’s the easiest option for your needs.
