Nicola our guide was very informative. We not only learned all about the coliseum but also Roman society and even the origins of some words. He was very insightful and had a relaxed manner. He encouraged tour members to ask questions and we learnt so much more that way. Skip the line in a group is a real time saver and November made everything less busy (still busy)

A wonderful tour led by an absolutely fantastic and humorous guide (sorry I can’t re his name but he had a green light sabre instead of the normal flag, for us to follow, so must be easy to identify!) the visit was long enough to get a through look and at a good tempo which wasn’t too exhausting for my 80 year old mother. Although some of the short sections of the old Roman pathways were hard for her to negotiate, and there are stairways to negotiate, but the fact we had ear pieces in, meant that we didn’t miss out on anything and were able to keep up with the Guide who was very attentive to everyone in the group and answered questions throughout.<br />We visited in early November which was perfect as around 20 degrees, visiting in summer would be punishing in the heat so if you do have to holiday then, try to get in the morning before the sun is at its peak?
