Gladiator’s Gate: Special Access Colosseum Tour with Arena Floor

We are not ones for group travel or tours but were aware that access to the Roman colosseum would be chaotic. While searching for tickets, I discovered the Walks of Italy website, which is thoughtfully organized and well-designed. We were attracted to the small group size and expressed commitment to cultural heritage. Our guide was excellent! It was an honor to be hosted for three hours by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic historian. A truly priceless experience. We were so happy with our Walks tour that we booked another two days later to Vatican City!

The unrelenting severe thunderstorms prevented visiting the arena floor and seating areas. All tour groups were forced to huddle together while waiting for a break in the rain to move on. The guide was knowledgeable and tried to make the best of a trying situation. The colosseum looks very interesting but we only saw a portion of what we paid for. The weather can definitely cause problems. You are in an elevated stone building with a massive thunderstorm above you.

Tour was good, educational and interesting. Would highly recommend for families, we all enjoyed it very much.

Great guide . Amazing experience ! Water fountains, and restrooms available. Be prepared for line ups .
