Excellent
Fantastic culinary experience for solo traveler. A 7-hour tour that flew. Visit to the dairy with explanation and tastings of Parmesan cheese, really interesting and engaging. We then moved to a vinegar factory, where they gave us a guided tour and various tastings of these precious balsamic vinegars. Finally we went to the hills between Bologna and Modena where together with the sphoglines we learned to make tagliatelle and tortellini. Excellent aperitif and lunch. The guide Ela was very good and very prepared. Experience that I recommend to anyone who has the opportunity to pass by Bologna.

Excellent
A recommended tour for those coming to and around Bologna! During the tour I learned how Parmigiano Reggiano is created, the art of creating the famous balsamic vinegar of Modena, and how to make tortellini and tagliatelle. The tour is well organized. The journey between stops is comfortable and passes quickly. The guide and several dealers made the experience really interesting and educational. I think locals should do it too because it teaches so much about local products that people hardly know. The final stop then was a real dream. I learned how to make tortellini by hand, and the experience is made even more fun and hilarious thanks to the owners of the agriturismo. Finally, once you create the pasta with your own hands you can finish the tour with a rich lunch of your own creations in front of a breathtaking view among the hills of Bologna. For me it was a wish come true to have learned how to create tortellini :) Highly recommended tour for food lovers!

For those visiting the area, I really recommend taking a tour like this. You get to learn about products like Parmigiano Reggiano and traditional balsamic vinegar that you’ve heard of your whole life but don’t really know what goes into producing them. I particularly loved the balsamic vinegar part of the tour. The acetaio is stunning and our host was bubbly, knowledgeable, and explained the entire process clearly while holding everyone’s attention. Also, when you buy traditional balsamic vinegar on site, it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than it is online or at a store. The last part of the tour in the agriturismo was wonderful too. The setting is gorgeous and it was fantastic to make pasta then eat the fruits of our labor.

Perfecto. We highly recommend that you take this tour. It was very interesting, we saw the rural area around Bologna and we had fun! We learned so much about the effort it takes to create Parmesan Reggiano cheese, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena and Pasta. Our guide, Giulia, was wonderful. Our day was fantastic!

Know Before You Book

Can I visit a Parmigiano or balsamic factory on my own?
Some are open to the public, but they often require advance booking, may not offer tastings, and rarely include English-speaking guides. This tour takes care of everything—with trusted, high-quality producers and no tourist traps.
Do other tours offer the same experience?
No—ours is the only day trip from Bologna that includes both authentic factory visits and a hands-on pasta-making class. Most tours skip one or send you to larger, less personal operations.
Is this suitable for vegetarians?
Yes! Parmigiano is vegetarian and pasta sauces can be adjusted. Just let us know any dietary needs when booking.
Will I learn to make pasta from scratch?
Yes—and not from a cookbook. A sfoglina, a professional pasta master, will guide you through the full process with plenty of hands-on help.
Is wine included?
Yes! Two glasses of regional wine are served with lunch. Non-alcoholic options are also available.
What’s the transportation like?
Comfortable and easy—air-conditioned minivan, round-trip from Bologna, so you can relax and focus on the food.
