Q. What inspired you to become a guide?
Being a guide for me means being able to make people feel at home even miles away from their home country. Showing them our culture, our food, our history, so as to immerse them in something new and give them a new perspective on things. I love finding connections between world cultures and showing how equal/different we are, but still wonderful.
Q. What do you love most about Rome?
Rome has the charm of a city where every corner hides an incredible story to listen to. It is a city that can amaze you and where every person from the past has left a trace of their passage. Rome is a mosaic of people, cultures, and spices.
Q. Tell us about a memorable moment from one of your tours.
A moment I hold in my heart was during our tour of Testaccio. I had a very diverse group, in age and background, from children to the elderly, from the east to the west of the world.
When the tour was over, each of them wanted to give me a coin from their country as a promise to meet again for coffee around the world. They told me that as I had made them feel my culture, they would like to show me theirs, and that money was a caffè sospeso to meet again.
