If you’re looking for the best wine bars in Seville, you’ve come to the right place. As you may already know, Spain is quickly gaining a name for itself as one of the best wine producing countries in the world. So, it’s only natural Seville would have a number of standout places to sip some delicious vino.
Admittedly, most of Spain’s iconic wines are produced in the north of the country. Think Rioja reds and Verdejo whites. However, here in Andalusia, we’re just as fanatical about wine as our northern counterparts.
Nearly every bar in the city will have a house wine available. But, there are certain bars in Seville that pride themselves on providing unique and extremely delicious vino varieties for their customers.
Lama la Uva
The experience in Lama la Uva is simply unforgettable. Fundamentally, this tiny location is a wine store with an attached bar, offering over 200 wines.
Lama la uva specializes in sourcing from small producers, with a significant proportion of their stock coming from local producers around Andalusia.
The owner, Ana Linares, created Lama la uva as her passion project, and her love for wine is infectious. Her knowledge is second to none. Allow Ana and her staff to make recommendations on the best wine to enjoy with the exquisite tapas on offer. As they say, they don’t have a wine list, they ARE the wine list.
We recommend their tasting and catas menus. Take a tour around Spain in the form of the wines of the regions. For wine lovers who wish to learn more about the beverage, this is definitely the place to visit.
Taberna Álvaro Peregil
Nestled in among touristy bars and restaurants on Calle Mateos Gagos is the ultimate hole in the wall bar, Taberna Álvaro Peregil (C. Mateos Gago, 22, Casco Antiguo).
This historic family-run establishment has always been one of our favorite wine bars in Seville. It’s been providing locals with delicious, sweet orange wine since 1904.
Actually, it was the first bar to introduce vino de naranja to the city of Seville. In recent years, they’ve added strawberry wine to their menu. This fortified wine infused with strawberry flavors is interesting and super tasty.
Don’t expect a seat at this bar, as the small space offers mainly standing room. Also, any available chairs outside are quickly snapped up by the bar’s regulars.
If you’re looking to live like a true local, the rustic interior, barely altered since the bar opened over 100 years ago, and the delicious orange wine make for an authentic experience you won’t soon forget.
Vinería San Telmo
Vinería San Telmo is a restaurant with a fabulous menu that just happens to stock an extensive list of some of the best wines found in a tapas bar in Seville. Owner Juan Manuel, and his wife Reyes, pride themselves on their exceptional knowledge of all things wine, including the local favorite: delicious sherry wines.
Aside from the fantastic great value tapas, the other amazing thing about this bar is the extensive wines available by the glass. This allows you to try a variety of tastes. Make sure not to overlook the wine of the month.
The owners carefully choose their wines to pair with their amazing food. For food and wine lovers, this is one of your must-try wine bars in Seville.
La Azotea Vinos & Tapas
La Azotea has been one of the most successful wine bars in Seville in recent years, now boasting four separate locations. While the restaurants stock great wines to pair with your food (the Azotea brand was founded by a sevillano chef and a Californian sommelier), dedicated wine drinkers should head to the abacería turned wine bar, La Azotea Vinos & Tapas.
This sleek, spacious bar contains a huge variety of delicious wines from all over Spain. You can also choose from a wide selection of charcuterie, fresh seafood or delicious bread to pair.
For the ultimate wine experience, though, head to one of the catas (wine tastings) held on site. There, you can try some of the bars best wines and even purchase your favorite ones to take home.
Flor de Sal Wine Bar
Flor de Sal began as a wine store, offering regular tasting events. Wanting to offer more to their customers, they moved to a new location and now have a dedicated bar, still offering those catas that made their name in the first place, along with tapas, wine by the glass, and over 20 varieties of Spanish cheese.
They are passionate about the art of wine. Their enthusiasm and knowledge will blow you away. All these reasons are why we consider them one of the best wine bars in Seville.
For those who want a little more than a casual glass, Flor de Sal runs regular tasting events, each with a different theme. Make sure to book on their website so you don’t miss out their events.
Bodega La Aurora
If you want to taste and experience the traditional neighborhood bar, look no further than Bodega La Aurora (C. Pérez Galdós, 9, Bajo, Casco Antiguo) in the Alfalfa neighborhood.
You truly step back in time when you enter this small bar, with very little having changed since its founding in 1913. The high tables both inside and out maintain the old charm of the place.
The speciality of Aurora is the phenomenal vermouth on tap from the barrels behind the bar, though their curated selections for all types of wine are not to be missed.
If you are looking for a bar with local charm, great wines and value for money, Aurora is the place for you. Include this stop on your own wine and tapas crawl around the old town.
Casa Morales
If you want a glimpse behind the scenes at how wine used to be made and stored, Casa Morales is the place for you. Founded in 1850 as a purveyor of wines, it evolved into the bar you see today, and is still owned by the descendants of the original owners.
Split into two, in the bar side you will see the original decor, impeccably preserved, transporting you back to another age. This is the perfect area to enjoy their mouthwatering traditional tapas and the phenomenal wine selection.
On the other side, there is the sit down restaurant, and the first thing you will see is vast containers that once housed the wine. Today, they are a focal point, with the menu written on them for all to see. Drop into this piece of history of Sevilla on our Tapas, Taverns, and History tour.
El Rinconcillo
The oldest tapas bar still in existence in Seville, opening in 1670, for wine lovers this is a must try. It has an excellent selection of sherries, and other wines, to enjoy in a truly unique location.
The bar has been in the same location since its opening, and still maintains a lot of original features. Look up and admire the original beams, then look underfoot at the tiles that have survived the centuries.
El Riconcillo is slow to embrace modernity, which is a huge part of its charm. Calculators? What are they? Here they still calculate your tab on the bar itself in chalk.
Being in business for so long, they clearly know what they are doing and have an enviable collection of wines and sherries to try in their standing only bar, along with some of the best examples of traditional Andalusian tapas.
