Overview

The closest you’ll get to cooking in one of the Basque Country’s famous gastronomic societies, this intimate experience will show you the essentials of regional cooking in a short, sweet, yet incredibly comprehensive class. We’ve worked with a historical family restaurant in the heart of the Old Town to get private access to their kitchen, where a professional chef will guide you through creating four beloved Basque dishes. You’ll come away from your San Sebastian cooking class with a better understanding of the city's culture and the role food plays in it—plus a handy repertoire of new recipes to impress your family and friends back home.

What's Included

  • Cook (and eat!) four delicious dishes with a professional chef at a beloved San Sebastian restaurant. Enough food for a full meal including dessert and drink pairings.
  • Discover the secrets behind San Sebastian’s best-loved recipes, including the trick to flipping a potato omelet like a pro and the unique technique involved in making a centuries-old sauce.
  • Learn in a small group of just 10 guests maximum, making it easy to interact with your two hosts: a knowledgeable local guide and an expert chef.
  • Get hands-on in a real working kitchen and learn recipes and techniques that will come in handy long after you’ve departed San Sebastian.

Tour Itinerary

It’s no secret that San Sebastian is one of the top destinations in Europe (and the world!) for food lovers. This San Sebastian cooking class will help you experience Basque cuisine in a way that few other visitors to the city can claim. In just two and a half hours, we’ll take you behind closed doors and into the heart of the local food scene, where you’ll learn the recipes and techniques that make Basque cuisine one of the world’s most cherished gastronomic traditions.

Excellent
This was just the right amount of time that we had to dedicate to a cooking class. I was so fun to see how some of the most traditional dishes were prepared and help with that preparation. The chef was very kind and knowledgable and Amaya was the perfect host (and translator). Definitely a "must" experience!
