Overview

Rome’s streets are full of food—but not all of it’s worth stopping for. This evening experience cuts through the noise, leading you into the kitchens, bakeries, and wine bars that locals still swear by. You’ll walk through the Jewish Quarter, Centro Storico, and Trastevere neighborhoods, tasting your way through the dishes that define real Roman food culture. Fried artichokes. *Trapizzino*. *Baccalà*. Craft beers. Kosher pastries. You’ll meet the families and food artisans who keep these traditions alive—and finish the night with a spritz you make yourself, sipped atop a private rooftop overlooking St. Peter’s Basilica. This isn’t just another “eat your way through Rome” tour. This is the one that locals would take—if they could.

Then head to a 200-year-old kosher bakery, where pizza ebraica, a sweet-and-savory pastry packed with candied fruit and nuts, still sells out by mid-morning (but don’t worr...

Know Before You Go

Is this a walking food tour in Rome?
Yes! You’ll walk about 2 km through central Rome at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops and opportunities to sit and enjoy.
How many tastings are included?
You’ll enjoy at least 8 food tastings and 3 drinks—enough for a full Roman dinner with drinks, dessert, and aperitivo.
Is this a full dinner?
Most think so! Most guests are more than full by the end. And we can always give you more tips to continue the evening!
What if I don't drink alcohol?
No problem! We offer non-alcoholic options at every drink stop, including during the spritz-making finale.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
We can accommodate vegetarians and non-drinkers. Due to the nature of Roman street food, gluten-free options are limited.
Will I be in a large group?
Nope—our tours are capped at 12 people so you’ll have access to smaller spots and a deeper connection with your guide.
What makes a Devour tour different than the dozens of other Rome food tours in Trastevere?
We go beyond the bites. Our tours are crafted by local experts, built on deep relationships with family-run spots, and led by guides who don’t just recite—they storytell. You'll get real Roman food, exclusive access (like our private rooftop), and a walking route that connects every flavor to the history and soul of the city. Most tours feed you. We change how you see Rome.
What is trapizzino?
A modern Roman invention, *trapizzino* is a triangle of pizza dough stuffed with classic dishes like chicken *cacciatore* or eggplant parm. It’s handheld Roman comfort food.
What’s so special about this rooftop?
It’s private access—something most visitors (and even locals) don’t get. We’ve partnered with a family who opens it just for Devour guests. Golden hour spritz included.
Why is Trastevere the best place for a Rome food tour?
Trastevere is where Roman food culture comes alive—bohemian, buzzing, and packed with street food spots locals still swear by. It’s known for its trattorias, cobblestone charm, and a food scene that balances old-school tradition with new energy. If you want to eat like a Roman, this is where you start.
