Overview

Journey through the winding streets of the Gothic Quarter, popping in and out of its 75+ year old tapas bars, and learn how the story of Barcelona is fully intertwined with its food. From the Romans to the Moors to the present day, each of the communities that has called the current Catalan capital home has left its mark. In three and a half delicious hours, your friendly guide will reveal links to Barcelona's past hidden in plain sight: in our buildings, our language, and in every single food and drink you'll taste on this Barcelona tapas tour. Throughout your experience, you'll venture into the few remaining authentic small businesses in the Gothic Quarter and meet the proud locals who are keeping Barcelona's history alive through its food.

What's Included

  • Enjoy 10+ food tastings and 5 drinks at 3 hidden bars in the Gothic Quarter (enough for a full lunch or dinner).
  • Learn how to enjoy a Catalan-style aperitif as you taste two classic drinks—vermouth and cava—paired with a selection of charcuterie, cheese, and more tapas.
  • Visit a locally loved bar that hasn't changed its menu since 1945 and test yourself in the ultimate Catalan drinking experience: wine out of a porrón!
  • Try the foods that shaped Barcelona—from freshly fried seafood to mouthwatering homemade cannelloni—and learn how history has influenced the food we eat today.
  • Uncover Barcelona's secrets on a 50-minute historical walking tour through the picturesque streets of the Gothic Quarter.

Barcelona Tapas Tour Itinerary

Tourism has changed a lot of things in the Gothic Quarter, but local institutions do still exist—you just need to know where to look. We'll start at a 100-year-old bar that is as much a part of the neighborhood as the nearby churches and monuments are. Begin your Barcelona tapas tour with vermouth and cava—because why stop at one aperitif when you could have two?—paired with a selection of cured meats, Spanish cheeses, and more tapas staples.

Our Pledge to Sustainable Tourism in Barcelona

We believe that the best food in Barcelona comes from a connection between the land (or sea!), the people, and the plate. That means a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, the stories behind them, and the culture and community tying it all together. As the Catalan capital changes more with each passing year, we’re committed to honoring the city’s roots by supporting small, family-run businesses through responsible food tourism.
