I'm an enthusiastic Roman ready to show my amazing city to curious travelers. Andiamo!
Q. What inspired you to become a guide?
I love travelling myself and I speak English and Spanish. That paired with my love of art and history and sharing that knowledge with other people made guiding the perfect fit.
Q. What do you love most about Rome?
Rome is messy, but charming, if you have the right "Key" to understand the Eternal City and her mood! At 2777 years old, we often compare Rome to a lasagna with layers of history. But if you're a sweet tooth you can pretend it is like tiramisù!
Q. Tell us about a memorable moment from one of your tours.
Once I had a young couple on a tour and the man proposed on a panoramic terrace! We were all witnesses of a new love story!
I grew up in the countryside…so I know all about salami making, the olive harvest and wine production.
I could talk about art and history all day.
I love the connection between history and food. Ask me about Neapolitan tradition of "suspended coffee" and how seriously Italians can be about espresso!
Q: What's the best time to visit Rome?
The fall and spring are the best, but can be busy…It is never too cold in Rome so come in November or January if you want to avoid the crowds!
Q: What do you tell your visiting friends to see in Rome?
Climb the Januiculum Hill to get a nice view around midday when you can still hear the cannon fired everyday at noon, a longstanding Roman tradition from the 19th century. Bike on the Appian Way, and immerse yourself in the Park of the Aqueducts. In May, don't miss the rose garden of Rome and climb Aventine Hill to the Orange Garden. Also the Baths of Caracalla are quite remarkable with a good guide!
Q: What are some unmissable foods and drinks?
Some of my recommendations are supplì, gelato, maritozzo, espresso, and fried artichokes (when in season). If you're brave, try Roman oxtail or tripe!
