Experience the Passion: Where to See Flamenco in Madrid

When you think of Spain, of course flamenco comes to mind. But finding an authentic, traditional show in Madrid can be tricky!

You may think that the best place to see a flamenco show is in the south. While it’s true that flamenco has its roots in Andalusia, over the years, the top dancers, singers, and guitar players have traditionally come to Madrid to launch their careers. This makes Madrid a wonderful place to see a quality flamenco show.

1. Casa Patas

When you enter Casa Patas, you’re surrounded by beautiful Andalusian decor and music. Casa Patas prides itself on hosting a memorable flamenco show that many Madrileños adore. 3. Las Carboneras

When people ask us where to see flamenco in Madrid, Las Carboneras is one of our top picks. Located in the heart of historic Madrid inside an old palace, Las Carboneras is a venue that was started by two dancers. Their objective was to capture the essence of a traditional flamenco show from the past, while still incorporating modern aspects from the flamenco of today. Their dinner menu features paella, with a vegetarian paella option as well.

Address: Plaza del Conde de Mirada, 1

4. Cafetín la Quimera

Located out by Madrid’s bull ring, this flamenco tablao takes you back to 19th century Spain. Cafetín la Quimera doesn’t use microphones or modern technology in their flamenco shows. You’ll only hear the raw voices and guitar melodies resonating around the room. If you’re wondering where to see flamenco in Madrid, this is an authentic option. After you’ve watched the performance, you’ll want to sign up for their flamenco dance classes!

Address: Calle de Sancho Dávila, 34

5. Corral de la Morería

Right by the Royal Palace in the center of Madrid is Corral de la Morería. In this flamenco show, you’re treated to a huge selection of star dancers and musicians. Address: Calle de la Morería, 17

What makes Café de Chinitas different from some other tablaos is the fusion of traditional flamenco with great cuisine. You can enjoy dinner while the vibrant flamenco costumes and performers mesmerize you. Café de Chinitas invites guest stars to each show, so you’re in for a unique experience every time. This show is also really fun for kids, as they often invite them up on stage when the show is over for a peek behind the scenes!

I am debating between the show at Cardamomo and Cafetin La Quimera. I have been to see flamenco twice, once in Granada and the other at Casa Patas in Madrid. I would really like to see a traditional and authentic show and not fall into a tourist trap. Dinner is fine but it is not the most important thing, I want to focus on the music, especially the singing and guitar. What do you recommend more?

Hi Angela, thanks so much for reaching out! In our opinion, both places are great options. La Quimera is a small, immersive experience, with great dancers and no microphones. Cardamomo is where the cream of the crop of flamenco performers have performed over the years. Both are excellent choices! We hope you enjoy your experience!

When you visit one of these places, you always enjoy a show of the highest quality. The dancers are serious professionals, which cannot always be said of all the clients who go to see the show ….. I recommend any of them. Enjoy it !!!

I’m a flamenco fanatic and have been to Seville several times. Is there a place in Madrid similar to the Casa de la Memoria in Seville, which is small and intimate with just a show of perhaps 3 or 4 performers? Thanks

Hi David! You might like the small and intimate performance at Cafetín la Quimera
