It’s a beautiful, colorful and exciting space just minutes from the city center where you’ll find lively play areas, modernista architecture and winding paths decorated with stunning designs. Of course, this stunning park was designed by none other than Gaudi himself. Head to the top to enjoy an incredible panoramic view, and don’t forget to bring the picnic! This is a quintessential plan for Barcelona for families!

Want something a little more challenging? Head to the labyrinth at Parc del Laberint d’Horta to see if you’re brave enough to tackle the beautiful but mighty maze. There’s a playground in the park area next door, along with a small snack bar (with wine for the adults of course!). Bring a blanket and relax in the evening sun while kids enjoy the climbing frames and slides.

Curious Minds

Cosmo Caixa is without doubt one of our favorite ways to spend a day—even without children! It’s a seriously impressive five-story building crammed full of activities and exhibitions to captivate the imaginations of even the most restless! There’s also a huge selection of activities and exhibits held throughout the day. Toca Toca is an activity where the children can actually touch exotic animals and learn all about their habitats. Another one not to miss is the 3-D movies that allow older children and adults to learn all about the solar system in an incredible auditorium. Booking is essential.

Water Babies

If you didn’t know already, we should probably warn you—Barcelona can get very hot, especially during summer months! And what better way to cool down then taking a splash on one of the many beaches. Take a train from Plaza Catalunya and head out beyond the tourist-filled Barceloneta for truly great beaches. During the summer months many of these even screen outdoor cinema nights. It’s the perfect way to spend a summer’s evening, and of course one of the very best things to do in Barcelona for families.

Badalona beach is about 25 minutes away, and boasts miles and miles of soft sand and clear water. The best part? It’s lined with a selection of great beach bars and restaurants. Stay late into the evening, bring a deck of cards, and enjoy some evening drinks and family bonding on the waterfront. (Kumbaya singing optional!)

Last Resort (Bribery)

Okay, we’re not saying we agree with bribery, but we are saying we understand! Sometimes the only answer, is ice cream! And where is the best place to get it? Eyescream and Friends of course! Kids and adults love this little place down by the old fisherman’s neighborhood of Barceloneta. You’ll also find the aquarium nearby, which is another super place for a daytime visit. Either way, an ice cream is sure to win children of any age over!
