Breakfast on a terrace while basking in the warm Seville sun? Ham, toast, freshly squeezed OJ? We could get used to this!

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it is one of our favorite meals in Spain. We love sitting outside in a sunny plaza with the smell of orange blossoms wafting through the air.

There's no better way to start your day than by enjoying breakfast in Seville. Here are our favorite spots for the most important meal of the day.

How to eat breakfast in Seville like a local

Breakfast is almost always eaten at a bar around 11 a.m. This is not to say that the locals donโ€™t eat breakfast first thing in the morning, just that they eat only a little snack to tide them over until the heartier breakfast later on.

A typical breakfast is usually coffee, orange juice and toast topped with anything from olive oil, tomato, deli meats, butter, and marmalade or even pig lard.

Where to eat the best breakfast in Seville

1. La Cacherreria

This little bar is found on the hip Calle Regina, just behind the Metropol Parasol in Seville. They offer a wide variety of breakfasts including toast, yogurt with muesli, and smoothies – along with great gluten free alternatives! It is small, so you might have to wait a bit, but it will be worth it. This is one of the places for breakfast in Seville that we love for its atmosphere and delicious coffee. A place frequented by locals and tourists alike, it gets very busy, but it’s worth the wait – we recommend it whole heartedly!

2. Cafรฉ Bar La Fresqui

If you are looking for a traditional experience, this is one of the best places for breakfast in Seville. The service is great and the prices are reasonable. We love the tostada with slices of tomato and serrano ham – simple but effective! The decoration is very simple and the bar itself is your traditional Spanish bar with people from the neighborhood stopping in for breakfast or tapas later in the day. Maybe thatโ€™s why we love it so much!

3. La Esquina del Arfe

If you are staying in the historic center, this is a great option for breakfast. Located just a few steps away from the bullring, La Esquina del Arfe serves up enormous slices of toast without much of a wait. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside and enjoy the morning sun. Traditional decoration makes this a perfect choice before setting off for a day of touring the city!

4. Bar El Comericio

With beautiful blue and white tiles, Bar El Comercio is your place for breakfast in Seville if you are looking to eat churros! It is said that these are the best churros in the historic center, and we totally agree with this statement. The ones they serve are not the typical ones in the form of a star, but instead like the fatter โ€œporrasโ€, you will find in Madrid (just smaller). The hot chocolate is thick and delicious, but not too sweet!

5. Casa Moreno

This is one of the places for breakfast in Seville that surprised us. When you first walk up to the door, it looks like a little shop with canned goods and deli meats. However, they also serve breakfast and little sandwiches later in the day. For 2.50 euros you too can enjoy one of their specialties: a half of a ration of toast with Spanish omelet and sobrassada along with a coffee.
