Traveling with kids can be incredibly rewarding, but mealtime in a foreign country presents a unique set of challenges.

Not only do you have to figure out where and when to eat, but you need to find a place with food your kids will actually enjoy! And while not all little ones are picky eaters, there are certainly plenty who will balk at the idea of unfamiliar foreign food (totally normal!). This guide to where to eat in Seville will not just show you our favorite kid-friendly restaurants—we’ve also narrowed down a list of our top kid-approved Spanish foods that you can find throughout the city.

Kid-friendly spaces

Sometimes the easiest thing to do when it comes to where to eat in Seville with kids is to simply go somewhere that will make the little ones happy. From onsite play areas to nearby parks and plazas where kids can play to their hearts’ content, these restaurants are great options for when kids are looking to run around and let off some steam while parents enjoy a meal.

Insider’s tip: Most restaurants in Seville do have high chairs—you just have to ask! The Spanish word for “high chair” is trona.

1. Mamafante y Papaposa

This adorable cafe near the family-friendly Alameda neighborhood offers the best of both worlds. Mamafante y Papaposa isn’t just one of our favorite options for where to eat in Seville with kids, though the colorful supervised play area is sure to delight young travelers. It’s also a cozy, comfortable spot for moms and dads to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch and even get some work done in their coworking space!

2. La Escaloná

As part of a family-run venture revitalizing the traditional flavors of Andalusia, La Escaloná brings something new and fresh to the table. Their passion for fresh, local products shines through in each fabulous dish. The restaurant itself, a beautiful and contemporary locale, boasts a fabulous location right on the Plaza de Alfalfa, a great place where local kids are constantly playing.

3. Kiosko Bar Príncipe

A lovely little kiosk in one of Seville’s most gorgeous green spaces, Kiosko Bar Príncipe has it all when it comes to where to eat in Seville with kids. Not only is Parque de los Principes itself a great place for kids to run around and play, but the small bar even offers a bouncy house for the kids right on site! They also have several yummy options on their kids’ menu, so little ones are sure to find a dish they’ll enjoy.

4. La Huerta de la Buhaira

Peaceful surroundings are essential when it comes to traveling with kids, but the little ones will also want a place where they can run around and play. Experience both of the above at La Huerta de la Buhaira, a small bar serving freshly made tapas in the lovely Buhaira Gardens. The gorgeous park is a living homage to Moorish Seville and provides the perfect setting for a relaxing meal, while kids still have plenty of space to play.

5. Vinería San Telmo

Amazing Spanish food with an international flair; a superb wine list; and a cozy, comfortable setting—all just steps away from one of the most popular playgrounds in Seville? Yes, it’s possible. Regarded as one of Seville’s top restaurants, Vinería San Telmo will be a hit with the whole family. Kids will have a blast playing at the nearby Jardines del Murillo playground before or after your meal.

Fried fish: such a simple concept, yet so delicious when done right. Here in Seville, it’s an unrivaled staple of local cuisine and even enjoys a place of honor on the menu at the annual Feria de Abril. 7. Arte y Sabor

A cozy, intimate little restaurant right on the Alameda de Hércules, Arte y Sabor offers fresh, locally sourced dishes with an international flair. Sounds fancy, but it’s really not—their menu includes plenty of kid-approved options, among them croquetas, burgers, pork skewers, and more. They take special care to include plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, too.

8. Patio San Eloy

What kid doesn’t like sandwiches? Here in Spain, sevillano children go crazy for montaditos, mini bite-sized sandwiches with a variety of tasty fillings made with hearty, crusty bread. Patio San Eloy is a favorite among locals for these yummy bites. While they have three locations here in Seville, we’re fans of their flagship bar on Calle San Eloy just north of the city center. Here, you can enjoy their meal on their colorful ceramic benches built right into the wall.

Markets

A visit to one of Seville’s colorful, vibrant markets is a feast for all five senses. Kids will love exploring the stalls and picking out their own fresh food for a picnic, or enjoying a meal at one of the fun market bars!

9. Mercado de la Encarnación

For nearly 180 years, Seville’s emblematic Mercado de la Encarnación has been a staple of local life. Today, while hundreds of tourists walk right by the market on their way to visit Las Setas up above, the unassuming market still enjoys an authentic, old-world ambiance in the shadow of the gigantic monument. After visiting the market and enjoying its charm, you’re in the perfect position to head up to the top of the famous “mushrooms”—a favorite destination for little ones visiting Seville!

10. Mercado de Triana

Not every market can brag about being built right on top of an old castle, but the Mercado de Triana surely can. In addition to its magical location, this beautiful market just across the Puente de Isabel II beautifully brings tradition and modernity together. Local families love coming here to shop or enjoy a meal at one of the market bars—join them!

Whether you’re still narrowing down where to eat in Seville with kids or you’re open to any place that sounds good, you’ll probably want to get familiar with some of the dishes Spanish children love best. These simple yet tasty dishes are quite common all over the city. We think it’s safe to say that it will be love at first bite for your little ones, too!

1. Tostada con aceite y tomate

All toast is not created equal. Here in Seville, tostadas are made with delicious baguettes and topped with fresh ingredients like delicious local olive oil and tomato. It’s about as Spanish as you can get when it comes to a typical breakfast. More adventurous little travelers might enjoy a tostada de pringá, which is topped with the leftovers of the previous day’s pork stew. Try our favorite at Bodega El Picadero!

2. Churros con chocolate

You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy this classic! Churros and chocolate is arguably the most iconic sweet treat in all of Spain. You can’t get much better than perfectly crispy churros dunked in rich, soul-warming hot chocolate! There are many great places to enjoy churros in Seville, but our favorite is Bar El Comercio.

3. Empanadas

Are your kids (or you!) getting hungry, but you don’t want to stop sightseeing? Enter the almighty empanada. Pop into a local bakery and pick up a sweet or savory empanada whenever hunger strikes. Filled with everything from tuna to ham and cheese, there’s an empanada everyone will enjoy, and it’s easy to break off pieces and eat them on the go.

4. Tortilla

We could write a whole post just about Spain’s iconic traditional potato omelet and where to enjoy it in Seville (oh wait, we did), and we think kids will agree: this dish, while as simple as it gets, couldn’t be more tasty! Plus, it’s super versatile—you can enjoy it hot or cold, on its own or shoved between two halves of a baguette for a hearty bocadillo…the possibilities are endless!

5. Patatas Bravas

As one of the most ubiquitous tapas here in Seville, you’d be hard pressed to find a bar that doesn’t serve patatas bravas. These are perfectly crispy fried potatoes smothered in a tasty tomato sauce that has a kick to it, but isn’t too spicy. Some bars also serve them with alioli, a delicious garlic mayonnaise. Order a plate for the whole family to share and get your kids on board with the tapas tradition!

6. Arroz

When we say “rice,” we’re not just talking about paella, although that’s certainly what would come to most people’s minds when they hear “Spain” and “rice” in the same sentence. While the famous dish is delicious, it hails from faraway Valencia, and finding an authentic paella here in Seville can be tricky (though not impossible). Instead, try another one of the plentiful rice dishes available throughout Seville as a delicious alternative kids will love.

7. Albóndigas

Plenty of cultures all around the world have some kind of version of meatballs, but we think Spain’s albóndigas take the cake! Served in a simple yet delicious sauce, these delicious bites are perfect for kids and adults alike. Order up a plate and indulge in the ultimate Spanish comfort food.

8. Pinchos

Meat on a stick: what’s not to love? Pinchos, like most kid-friendly Spanish foods, are as simple as it gets. They’re usually made with pork or chicken, but seafood and even vegetable skewers are available. Plus, they’re easy and fun to eat!

9. Ice Cream

Everyone who’s visited Seville between the months of April and September knows that spring and summer can be scorching. Luckily, that just gives you an excuse to cool down with ice cream! Head to one of our favorite local heladerías for a treat the whole family will enjoy.

10. Arroz con leche

Remember when we talked about Spanish rice? They even have a dessert version! Arroz con leche might sound strange (it literally translates to “rice with milk”), but trust us—one bite, and kids will fall in love. This tasty cold rice pudding often comes sprinkled with cinnamon and is one of our favorite traditonal sweet treats here in Seville.
