We have beautiful summers here in Barcelona. However, when the cooler months arrive, we love nothing more than cozying up in our favorite cafes in Barcelona!

Enjoy our great list if some cozy and warm cafes in Barcelona. Grab a book and a delicious cup of coffee and you're all set for the perfect afternoon!

Long shadows and crisp autumnal gusts of wind make us shiver with delight as we change out our closets and swap the shorts for our boots. Of course, along with the new season comes the longing to hang out in cozy cafes in Barcelona for hours. Meet with friends for hot cups of coffee and altogether embrace the coming months of cold weather. Furthermore, these cafes are fantastic all year round, too. Read on and check out some of the best cafes in Barcelona, winter, summer, spring, and fall.

Café Granja Viader

If you’re looking for something classic, head to Café Granja Viader. This place is just one of the historic cafe bars of Barcelona traditionally referred to as granjas, which means an old dairy farm. On a small street just off Las Ramblas, the Spanish version of a diner is absolutely picturesque. We love it all, from the adorable regulars hanging out at all hours of the day to the lovely relationship this clientele has with the waitstaff. If you’re in the mood to splurge, go for a thick Spanish style hot chocolate—only for serious sweet-tooths. See it for yourself in the video below!

Babelia Books & Coffee

Carrer de Villarroel, 27

Run by two lovely Irish and Catalan women, Babelia is your answer to cozy cafe meets charming secondhand bookstore. Between the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans and the familiar smell of used books, you’ll be in heaven. There is a great decoration, careful preparation of all pastries and cakes, which are homemade! Furthermore, of course, there are a wide selection of used books in various languages, there for purchase or just reading while at the cafe.

Café del Born

Café del Born, what isn’t to love? Infinitely high ceilings, dozens of small wooden tables and chairs, a priceless location right in front of the recently renovated Born Cultural Center. This cafe is where the bohemian community of the Born mingle with roaming visitors. It is a place where locals leaf through the newspapers while foreigners flip through guide books. Camping out here is almost like a religion. The harmonious ambiance is one that nobody wants to leave behind. Oh, and the food it fantastic to boot. Not only that but of course there are so many places to eat in the Born neighborhood if you fancy taking a wander after your caffeine-fix at this beautiful cafe in Barcelona!

Granja Petitbo

An old dairy shop converted into a bakery, bistro and cafe, Granja Petitbo sits on the corner of the lovely tree lined Passeig de Sant Joan. There you will find one of our very top cafes in Barcelona, with big windows and a fantastic interior decor. Reminiscent of a cozy Berlin-style cafe with an enormous wooden table and comfy sofas and chairs, they also serve up delicious and homemade quiches, pastas and pastries.

Make sure to order some of the delicious real dairy hot chocolate here, a suisse is one of our very favorite things! With a churro too of course to dunk in it!

Cosmo Café & Galeria de Arte

Hit two birds with one stone when visiting Cosmo! Not only is it a fantastic little cafe on one of Barcelona’s most charming promenades, Enric Granados, but it also has a constantly rotating art gallery! Furthermore, it showcases anything from photography to sketches to bizarre bicycle sculptures. Known around town as one of the coolest cafes in Barcelona. Not surprisingly either, with its pleasant artsy ambiance and attention to detail. You can always be sure to find a nice atmosphere at Cosmo Café.

Cosmo is my all-time favorite (and its smaller sister cafe Cometa too). I recently discovered La Fourmi up in Gràcia, which is really cute and cozy, and Federal in Sant Antoni is a good cafe too.
