The tour guide knew SO much information and was very knowledgeable but the pace of the tour made it difficult to appreciate everything, ask any questions, or stop to admire anything else. I understand it's very crowded, busy, and there is much to see, but I'd almost prefer to have seen slightly less or have a little longer of a tour.
Additionally, I booked an early time so it would be less crowded but our tour time got changed with no explanation.
Overall, I'm happy we took the tour but I would reconsider my options for next time.

Marco our guide was excellent! Very knowledgeable, spoke clearly. The Vatican can be overwhelming sometimes with so many people but we never felt rushed. He answered all our questions. I would recommend Marco as a Vatican Guide to anyone.

Our tour was led by Davide who was absolutely fantastic. His knowledge brought the paintings as well as all of the artifacts in the museum to life. Coupled with some dry humor thrown in, he was terrific making for a memorable experience.

Are there any times when St. Peter's Basilica will not be open to visitors?
The special access passage between the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica is closed on Wednesdays and subject to other unexpected closures during special celebrations/festivities, including the Easter ceremonies. On such days we will instead explore the magnificent Pinacoteca Gallery rather than the Basilica.
What is the dress code for the Vatican?
Access to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel is permitted only to visitors dressed modestly (no sleeveless blouses, no miniskirts, no shorts, no hats allowed). All guests regardless of gender must cover their shoulders and knees.
Is this tour accessible to guests with mobility impairments?
Unfortunately due to the nature of this tour it is not suitable for guests with mobility impairments, or for wheelchairs or strollers. Please contact the Guest Experience team at [email protected] to make alternative arrangements.
