Overview

Bairro Alto is where Lisbon's history, culture, and nightlife collide—so it's at the top of every Lisbon visitor’s bucket list for good reason. But with 300 bars packed into one square kilometer, it can be tricky to figure out which spots are actually worth your time—not to mention what to order and how to order it when you finally decide on one. On this Lisbon food and wine tour, you’ll join a local guide and a small group of fellow foodies for a slice of life in Lisbon on a fun evening out in trendy Bairro Alto, eating and drinking your way across the best bars, *tascas*, and pastry shops in the neighborhood. Get ready to discover the most incredible wines, cocktails, *petiscos* (shareable plates—think tapas, but Portuguese!) and even make some new friends along the way in this colorful and cultural corner of the city.

What's Included

  • Spend a fun night out around two must-visit Lisbon neighborhoods: trendy, vibrant Bairro Alto and gorgeous, less-visited Príncipe Real enjoying local wines and petiscos.
  • Enjoy a feast of the most delicious petiscos in Lisbon paired with wines and cocktails at 4 small businesses. Enough food for a full dinner and dessert.
  • Dig into hearty homemade Portuguese classics, including the best traditional duck rice in the city, at a buzzing local tasca run by a local family.
  • Learn the ins and outs of dining out in Portugal, from how to pick an authentic spot to the vocabulary you need to know to get great food and drinks every time.
  • Sample a selection of delectable cheeses and flame-grilled chouriço, perfectly paired with local wines.
  • Watch as expert bakers at a top pastry shop prepare Lisbon’s legendary custard tarts right before your eyes—and taste one for yourself!

Our first round: two typical tastes with ties to Japan and the local Jewish community, paired with the freshly shaken craft cocktail of the day.
