Overview

If you only take one day trip from Barcelona—make it this one. From the silence of Montserrat’s basilica at sunrise to a sparkling glass of cava poured between the vines, this experience hits every note: sacred, scenic, and seriously delicious. You’ll explore Catalonia’s most iconic mountain before the crowds arrive, then head to a boutique winery for an off-road adventure, a farm-to-table feast, and cava that tells a story in every sip. This is not your average “wine & monastery” tour. It’s the kind of day you’ll still be talking about years from now.

What's Included

  • See Montserrat at its most peaceful with early access and a guided tour of the basilica and Black Madonna
  • Go behind the bubbles at a boutique cava winery, with a 4x4 vineyard ride and insider tour from the winemakers themselves
  • Get your hands in the vines with seasonal activities like grape-picking or pruning (depending on the time of year)
  • Feast with a view during a homemade vineyard lunch with regional dishes and a curated cava pairing
  • Sit back and enjoy the ride with round-trip private transport from Barcelona—you relax, we handle the logistics

Barcelona Montserrat & Cava Winery Tour Itinerary

Morning: Peace & Perspective at Montserrat

Your day starts early—but trust us, it’s worth it. You’ll board a comfy minivan in central Barcelona and ride through the quiet countryside, watching the sun rise over the hills as your guide shares the stories behind where you're headed.

At Montserrat, you’ll arrive before the big tour buses—meaning you’ll walk through the basilica in near silence, get an intimate view of the legendary Black Mado...

Excellent
Ariana took a good tour and made it great, plus I love the relationship Devour has with the smaller winery as opposed to some big player. It made the whole thing more personable. I will recommend Devour to others and do it again some day.

Excellent
Best tour in Barcelona! Our guide, Bernadetta, was amazing. Friendly and knowledgable, she made sure everyone in our group was enjoying the tours to Monserrat and the Cava Winery Tour. I would highly recommend this tour and Bernadetta ( if you are lucky enough to get her!).

Excellent
This was one of the best tours I’ve been on - the group was small (about 10), the guide Valentina was super knowledgeable and nice and kept things moving, the minibus was new and spotless, and the winery was small and fantastic. Getting to Montserrat early before the crowds was key, and while we weren’t there long, we had plenty of time for both the guided visit and to explore the funicular, hike to cross, etc. Pro tip: if they ask for a volunteer at the winery, do it! Winery staff was so knowledgeable and while there was no obligation or pressure to buy anything, everything we tasted was super high quality. Just an all around great day, and so worth getting out of Barcelona to see the countryside!

Know Before You Go

Does the winery visit still take place in bad weather?
In the event of rain or inclement weather, you'll enjoy a homemade farm-to-table lunch inside at the winery.
How is this different from other Montserrat wine tours?
While others squeeze in a stop, we go deeper. You'll beat the crowds at Montserrat, explore a boutique cava winery by 4x4, enjoy a real vineyard lunch—not just tapas—and connect with locals who live what they pour.
Can I visit Montserrat and a winery on my own?
It might be possible—but planning it all yourself means juggling monastery schedules, winery bookings, and transport logistics. We’ve taken care of every detail so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
Is this tour suitable for vegetarians or dietary restrictions?
Absolutely. Just let us know at booking and we’ll coordinate with the winery for you.
Will I be in a huge group?
Not a chance. Our groups are intentionally small, so the experience stays relaxed, personal, and real.
What should I bring?
Comfortable shoes, a camera, and an appetite. The rest? We've got covered.
