Hola, I'm

Benedetta S.

Guide & Foodie

I was born and raised in Spoleto, Italy, where I studied foreign languages and translation. I've been calling Barcelona my "adoptive city" for almost three years even though I wasn't meant to move permanently when I first arrived. Today, there's no other place where I see myself living.

I like Barcelona's duality. It's a very multicultural city where you can meet people from all around the world, and it's the capital of Catalonia with beautiful traditions all of its own.

About Me

Q. What inspired you to become a guide?

I'm a translator in the food and wine industry, but I think certain things are better appreciated when you're in good company - like a nice glass of wine! I have always been curious about cultures and customs different from the Italian ones. When I had the opportunity of making this my every day life, I just took it.

Q. What do you love most about Barcelona?

I like Barcelona's duality. On one side it's a very multicultural city, where you can meet people from all around the world. On the other, it's the capital of Catalonia, a region with beautiful traditions all of its own.

Fun Facts

  • The first time I travelled by myself was when I was 13 and visited Canada.

  • When I'm traveling to a new place, I always like to learn a few words of its language.

  • My friends always tell me that I need to find someone that looks at me the way I look at food.

My Insider Tips for Barcelona

Q: What's your favorite time of year in Barcelona?

Early spring is probably my favorite time. The city is still quiet, but it's slowly waking up from the winter months, and weather is at its best.

Q: What do you tell your visiting friends to see in Barcelona?

You cannot miss the iconic Sagrada Familia as well as Casa Vicens, both designed by Antoni Gaudí. Take a stroll in the historical Ciutat Vella, the most ancient part of the city, and learn about the majestic history Barcelona was part of.

Q: What are some unmissable foods and drinks?

If didn't have pa amb tomaquet (bread with tomato) during your trip to Barcelona, can you really say you've been there? Try and make your own in one of the quaint bodegas the city has to offer, and also challenge yourself to drink wine from a porrón.
