Hola, I'm

Alejandro C.

Guide & Foodie

I am a writer and a proud member of the Andalusian Food Guides Association. I was born and raised right here in Seville. I have a degree in English Literature and Linguistics.

Sevillianos are wonderful, welcoming people. They ARE the culture. The biggest mistake would be leaving Seville without at least trying to make some local friends.

About Me

Q. What inspired you to become a guide?

I have been showing the city around since I was 15-years-old. At the beginning guiding was a hobby, but food has been always my true love. Devour allows me to combine both as a full-time food tour guide.

Q. What do you love most about Seville?

Everyday I get to share my love for Seville with people from all around the world. I also get to talk about the unique and extraordinary food this land around us produces, and how the amazing mix of ancient cultures that lived (and still live) here came up with our wonderful traditional recipes.

Q. What's your favorite story to tell on tour?

My family used to run an Iberian pig ranch when I was a kid, so I grew up learning everything that you need to know about these animals. Meaning the pigs, not the family.

Q. Tell us about a memorable moment from one of your tours.

One thing that happens often is that many of our guests exchange phone numbers to stay in touch after the tour. I have witnessed the origin of many friendships!

Fun Facts

  • Learning—and sharing what I learn—is what keeps me going every day.

  • Like half of the population in our planet, nowadays I co-present a podcast about culture.

  • Stargazing is my other-other-other passion.

My Insider Tips for Seville

Q: When is one of your favorite times of year to visit Seville?

Anytime! There is always something going on in Seville, from the gorgeous Spring Festivals to the stunning Christmas season.

Q: What do you tell your visiting friends to see in your city?

The boxes that everyone needs to check at least once per visit are both the Royal Alcazar and the mighty Cathedral. Also, the sunset from the river or the view at the top of Las Setas.

Q: What about the culture in Seville should people not miss?

It's wonderful, welcoming people. They ARE the culture. The biggest mistake would be leaving Seville without at least trying to make some local friends.

Q: What are some unmissable foods and drinks?

I could not live without Cazón en Adobo, something that is very difficult to find elsewhere, even if you "think" you don't like fish!
