Cook Up A Storm With These Three Great Cooking Classes in Seville

Sometimes traveling to a country isn’t just about seeing the sights and eating the food. You might really want to get a feel for a new place through a hands-on experience, and we truly believe that the best hands on experience to fit into your travels is a cooking class.

We love cooking classes to help understand a culture and its food on a deeper level, and with all the great food here in Andalusia, Seville is the perfect city to test your skills in the kitchen. So put your apron on, because here are our recommendations for cooking classes in Seville.

Taller Andaluz de Cocina

It’s always best to turn to the experts when you want to learn something new, which is exactly why we love the cooking classes at Taller Andaluz de Cocina. Victor is a professionally trained chef who developed his skills in a Michelin star kitchen in Gijón, but he is now expertly guiding visitors through a three-hour experience inside the Mercado de Triana.

After a visit to the market with Maria, you will get to work in the kitchen with Victor and help to prepare the dishes, while learning some new techniques and having fun along the way. At the end of the class, the group sits down to eat lunch – the same food you just helped prepare – making the perfect end to a great morning.

Cooking classes in Seville are a lot of fun! This is Victor with the paella that we made together at Taller Andaluz de Cocina.

Cooking Ole

Who better to assign the task of teaching you how to cook local dishes, than a group of locals who have a passion for their cuisine and want to share authentic Spanish cuisine with the world! Based in the historic center of Seville, Cooking Olé aims to teach you how to cook a Spanish meal in a practical and enjoyable way. You will partake in cooking everything from stews, meat, seafood and dessert, all while learning the tricks, secrets and stories behind the recipes as you go.

It goes without saying that an important part of the experience is the taste testing at the end which in typical Spanish style, happens with a glass of Spanish wine in hand – salud!

Doing cooking classes in Seville means you will have the chance to cook with amazing fresh, local produce from the markets, like this!

Paladar y Tomar

While the idea of spending a morning cooking in a group with new friends sounds great to some, perhaps you are looking for a boutique experience. Paladar y Tomar pride themselves on their wine and culinary tourism activities, and aside from offering bespoke experiences throughout Andalusia, they also offer a private cooking class right here in Seville.

The class is led by a Spanish food personality, and the experience takes place at their beautiful home right in the center of the city. You help to design your own menu, learn about Spanish culture from a local perspective, and, of course, at the end, you sit down and enjoy the outcome of the cooking class – food that is inspired by tradition, nature, and passion.

Is there a class that would be appropriate for a visitor who is a professional chef?

Hi, Sally. While I don’t know of any group classes that would be available in English for a professional chef, you could book private versions of the classes mentioned in this blog for a more hands on experience that might be more appropriate for an advanced cook.

Hi Nina! If you speak Spanish, Seville’s Escuela Superior de Hostelería offers a few professional three-month courses, and a few that last a full year! http://www.esh.es/formacion-especializada/

We don’t offer cooking classes ourselves but one of these options might have a vegetarian class or at least vegetarian options. Enjoy!
