In Spain, the word bodega can mean a lot of things… A winery, a wine cellar, a bar, and in many cases, a wine cellar and a bar. But where are the best bodegas in Barcelona?…
Barcelona is packed with fantastic bodegas where you can enjoy the local flavor, a glass of wine, and maybe even take a bit home from the barrels. Check out the best bodegas in Barcelona below, and if you really want to discover wine in Barcelona, join us on a gourmet tapas and wine tasting tour!
Bar Bodega Ca’l Pep
If you’re looking for authentic, you really can’t miss out on Ca’l Pep. A hidden gem of Gracia which has hardly changed since 1919, the year it opened. Part bar, part living room, this place will have you feeling like you’ve been transported in time. Crammed full of dusty wine barrels, tattered posters and regulars all around—it’s truly a place steeped in history and culture alike.
Adress: Carrer Verdi, 141
Casa Mariol
We’ve said it once but we’ll say it again: We love Casa Mariol. You’ll find it just around the corner from the Sagrada Familia. It is surprisingly new to the ranks of bodegas in Barcelona but don’t let that put you off. This place is as authentic as it gets and is also great for having a vermouth. Try their signature house clotxa, a bread-stuffed sandwich with herring, onions, tomatoes and garlic. It comes from the Terra Alta region of Catalonia, where their winery is located.
Address: Carrer del Roselló, 442

Bodega Fermin
The neighborhood of Barceloneta is a trove of authentic gems. One of our favorite spots is Bodega Fermin, a tiny corner bodega run by a young couple in the neighborhood. The bar serves all sorts of homemade delicacies and gourmet products, and beyond a wonderful wine selection, they also boast a long list of craft beers. Not to mention their homemade vermouth which is delicious!
Address: Plaça de Santa Maria
Celler Cal Marino
There’s a lot to love about Celler Cal Marino, tucked away in the authentic neighborhood of Poble Sec. From the delicious and creative croquettes to the beautiful sight of barrel after barrel that line the entrance, Celler Cal Marino is without a doubt one the best bodegas in Barcelona!
Address: Carrer de Margarit, 54
Gran Bodega Maestrazgo
More of an actual wine cellar than a bar, Gran Bodega del Maestrazgo is the place to go to talk to the experts and hang with the locals. Taste different wines and get those outstanding gifts for your family and friends. These people are experts, passionate about their products and also host different wine tastings and other related workshops in their back room. We love this place so much that we even visit here on our Tapas, Taverns & History Tour.
Address: Carrer Sant Pere Mes Baix, 90
Went to Celler Cal Marino when I went to Barcelona last month. Great place.
So happy to hear it, John!
