We so enjoyed the mix of food and history, learning about thousands of years of Barcelona’s timeline. The food selection had something for everyone! Highly recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your stay to better appreciate the city. Ariana was delightful and added so much to the experience!

Nika was an amazing guide. We learned so much about the history and context of the place and the food. The FOOD and drink was extensive and so delicious, lots of wine and tapas. Nika also introduced us to the siphon for your vermouth which changed our entire trip honestly. We usually do a food tour on the first night in a new city and this one was a very memorable one, highly recommend.

Excellent
I took this tour on August 18 with Hector and it exceeded my expectations. I booked it on the second day of my trip because I wanted to sample different tapas to decide which ones to try on my own later and which to avoid. And of course, to learn about the history of Barcelona. The tour delivered. Hector is funny, engaging, and overflowing with knowledge. There wasn’t a question I asked that he didn’t have an answer for. I walked away with so much information I wondered how I’d remember it all but surprisingly I do mostly because of Hector’s delivery. We went to three restaurants none of which I would have found on my own. They all seemed to be frequented by locals which I took as a good sign. I liked most of the food/drink I had especially the cava, meatballs, croquettes, and the patatas bravas which I tried the day before at another restaurant and did not like. Baked potatos (instead of fried) and the sauce made a big difference. Who knew? One or two dishes were okay though I wouldn’t rush to order them again. We were small group and everyone was friendly. Overall, I highly recommend this tour and Hector.

James was the absolute best. I've been on other food and history tours in Barcelona and Madrid and he is hands down at the top. Not only did we learn a ton from him, his restaurant picks were local and delicious AND he made sure our allergies were all managed and accommodated well. He cared about every aspect of the tour and made sure everyone felt included and taken care of. Thanks, James. You're awesome and congrats on getting married soon! Adieu!

Know before you book

Is this tour private?
Yes! This is a completely private tapas tour in Barcelona, led by your own local expert for an experience that’s focused on you.
Why choose a private tapas tour in Barcelona?
Because it’s the only way to avoid the tourist traps and taste the best of Barcelona like a local—on your own schedule, at your own pace, with a guide who knows the real stories behind what’s on your plate.
What makes this different from other private tours in Barcelona?
This tour is all about context. You'll eat incredible food, but you'll also walk away understanding the flavors, history, and neighborhoods that make Barcelona such a vibrant, unforgettable place.
How much food is included?
A full meal! You’ll enjoy cheese, street bites, wine, beer, pasta, dessert, and more. This isn’t just a tasting tour—it’s dinner, Neapolitan style.
Are tapas free in Barcelona?
No—unlike some cities in Spain, Barcelona’s tapas are ordered and paid for, just like any other dish. But on this tour, we take care of everything. You just sit back and enjoy.
What are the most popular tapas in Barcelona?
Some of the can’t-miss dishes include pan con tomate, jamón ibérico, padrón peppers, and seasonal seafood. But part of the fun of this tour is tasting what’s best right now.
What is the cancellation policy for private food tours?
Private food tours may be cancelled and refunded up to 7 days before the tour date. Thank you for understanding.
Can I customize the route or food stops on a private tour?
Our routes and tastings are thoughtfully planned in advance. Each stop has been chosen for its craft, character, and place in the neighborhood’s daily life. Keeping the route intact allows the experience to unfold smoothly without rushing or waiting. That way you can simply arrive and enjoy a table, seat, or bite waiting just for you. While the route itself stays the same, the rhythm is yours. Your guide adjusts the pace to suit your group.
