This tour was a group of 10, and visited five bars in central Madrid, with a variety of tapas and drinks served at each, mixed in with some historical sites and facts of the history of Madrid. Our guide David B was excellent. Perfect English (from Phoenix AZ as we are!) and quite polite and personable. He made a point of engaging each member of the group during various points of the tour. My husband left his phone at one bar outside of Plaza Mayor and he ran back to retrieve it. It wasn’t an easy day to conduct this type of tour as it was May 1, a national holiday, and very crowded. There were two non-drinkers in the group and he made sure to offer non-alcoholic options. The tapas were all amazing. The standouts were probably the oxtail tapa at our first stop, and the shrimp, with tomato salad and eggplant, at La Trucha, the last stop of the evening, right off of Plaza Santa Ana. We were there with our bilingual niece who lives in Madrid. It was a nice change from our other meals in Madrid, though they have also been excellent. This was a quintessential Spanish experience. At the end of the tour David texted those who were interested a list of other places to dine while in Madrid and offered to provide other travel information, from day trips to restaurants in other major cities such as Barcelona and Valencia. We all agreed it was a memorable evening and highly recommend Devour Tours.

Know before you book

Is this a private tour?
Yes — this is a fully private tour your own guide and maximum 8 of your friends and family. The best of Barcelona’s food culture isn’t always easy to find. With a private guide, you get the flavors, the stories, and the places that locals love.
How much food is included?
Enough for a full meal—this tour includes generous cicchetti tastings and drinks.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes, with advance notice. Let us know when booking and we'll work with our partners to adjust tastings where possible.
Why choose a private tapas tour in Madrid?
Because Madrid's best food experiences aren't found by chance. With a private guide, you’ll discover the real flavors and places most visitors miss.
What makes this different from other Madrid tapas tours?
This tour goes beyond just eating—it’s about discovering Madrid’s food culture, history, and traditions, all led by someone who knows the city inside and out.
What is the cancellation policy for private food tours?
Private food tours may be cancelled and refunded up to 7 days before the tour date. Thank you for understanding.
Can I customize the route or food stops on a private tour?
Our routes and tastings are thoughtfully planned in advance. Each stop has been chosen for its craft, character, and place in the neighborhood’s daily life. Keeping the route intact allows the experience to unfold smoothly without rushing or waiting. That way you can simply arrive and enjoy a table, seat, or bite waiting just for you. While the route itself stays the same, the rhythm is yours. Your guide adjusts the pace to suit your group.
