Know before you book

What ages is this tour best for?
We designed it with kids ages 4–12 in mind, but younger toddlers and teenagers are welcome too — the guide adapts the stories, games, and pace to your family.
Is this tour private?
Yes! This is a completely private tapas tour in Barcelona, led by your own local expert for an experience that’s focused on you.
Is Madrid a good city for families?
One of the best in Europe. The historic center is walkable, the food is kid-friendly, and the culture of family life here means kids are welcome everywhere — in restaurants, in plazas, at 10 PM. This tour is designed to show you the Madrid that local families actually enjoy so that you don't have to choose between experiencing the city and traveling with your kids.
How much walking is involved?
About 2 km (1.25 miles) at a relaxed pace, with frequent stops and chances to sit.
How much food is included?
15+ tastings at 8 spots—more than enough for a full meal. Come hungry! Water will be served at some spots, but we recommend bringing a water bottle if you get thirsty.
Can my kids learn some Spanish on this tour?
Yes — if they want to. Your guide can weave in Spanish words and phrases throughout the tour, from ordering food to greeting locals. It's optional and playful, never forced.
Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes — just let us know when you book. Vegetarian, gluten-free (not celiac), dairy-free, and pescatarian options can usually be accommodated. The tour is not recommended for vegans or those with celiac disease.
What's included in the price?
All food and drinks across 4 stops, plus an expert Devour guide who brings the evening together. You'll taste vermouth-hour classics, seasonal tapas, a refined main plate, dessert, and 5 paired drinks including Catalan wines and cava.
What if it rains?
The tour runs rain or shine. Your guide knows plenty of covered spots and can adjust the route as needed. Madrid is one of Europe's sunniest cities, so odds are in your favor.
Is this just for tourists, or would expat families enjoy it too?
Both. Families visiting Madrid get a fantastic introduction to the city, but expat families tell us they learn things about their own city they never knew. The history, the food stories, and the hidden details are interesting no matter how long you've lived here.
What is the cancellation policy for private food tours?
Private food tours may be cancelled and refunded up to 7 days before the tour date. Thank you for understanding.
