If you\u2019re planning your trip to Florence, you\u2019ll have to deal with Italian means of transportation. But don’t worry\u2014getting on a train or a bus is the best way to make new friends and enjoy a little bit of the real Italian vibes while you get to Florence.<\/span> Here’s how to get to Florence for every kind of traveler.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By Plane<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Florence has a tiny little airport, Amerigo Vespucci Airport. But don\u2019t rely on being able to fly into it, as the flights are mostly domestic.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s even a movement of popular resistance against the expansion of the airport, as it could destroy a natural reserve and make airplanes land too close to a university campus.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>So if you need to fly to Florence, choose another way\u2014one that\u2019s more ethical and ecological.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you need to travel by plane, try flying into nearby Pisa instead. Galileo Galilei Airport has way more flights per day and a greater variety of connections with other cities. <\/span>From Pisa Airport, you can get to Florence via <\/span>shuttle bus<\/span><\/a> in just one hour.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By Train<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Trains are great and we love them\u2014you just hop on and enjoy the fast trip!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are high speed lines that connect to Naples, Rome, Florence, and Bologna, as well as all the major cities in the north such as Milan, Venice, and Turin.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>You can choose between the national railway company, <\/span>Trenitalia<\/span><\/a>, or its rival, <\/span>Italo<\/span><\/a>. There are no big differences, just find the best offer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why not travel by bus to Florence? It\u2019s cheap, it\u2019s easy, and it\u2019s fun. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Flixbus<\/span><\/a> is a great option. You can find buses from Bologna, Genoa, Rome\u2014basically everywhere. If you’re still unsure how to get to Florence, the bus is a super flexible choice.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
