"Best
The gorgeous view from Segovia.

Segovia is known to most for its gorgeous Cinderella castle and incredible Roman aqueduct. But to food lovers around the world, it is also the best place to try the regional specialty, suckling pig. Eating in Segovia is a hearty affair, complete with big portions of extremely filling food. But the indulgence is worth it is you get it right. Check out our recommendations for the best restaurants in Segovia.

What to Try

Suckling Pig: Crispy on the outside and tender and flavorful on the inside, the perfect suckling pig should melt in your mouth. Remember that it is a very rich dish, our recommendation is to share a quarter portion among three or four people, and order other dishes too!

A plate of crispy suckling pig.

Judiones de la Granja: These enormous white beans are the key ingredient in a Segovian stew that will truly warm you up. Creamy and flavorful, they hold their own to the lovely chorizo and rich tocino (bacon) also found in this signature dish.

Ponche Segoviano: As the most famous pastry in Segovia, you simply must give a slice of Ponche Segoviano a try. Consisting of a light sponge cake, layered with pastry cream and wrapped in a thin layer of marzipan, it is a sweet way to end your day in Segovia.

Where to Eat in Segovia

When eating in Segovia you have your fair share of choices. We recommend first deciding if you want the full show (pigs sliced with plates, views of the aqueduct), or if you prefer to go a bit more off the beaten path. Both are great experiences, but the cost will vary.

Meson Don Jimeno: This is your best bet for value when eating in Segovia. Located away from the most touristic part of town, in between the Alcazar and the Plaza Mayor, their suckling pig is delicious, their bean stew is fantastic, and their desserts are homemade and extremely fresh.

Calle Daoiz, 15

José María Restaurante: Consistently voted one of the best places in Spain for suckling pig, this is a beautiful place to try it. Expect the full show (your pig will likely be cut with a plate!) and a more innovative menu than many competitors. Not a budget find, but worth the splurge!

Calle Cronista Lecea, 11

Meson de Candido: Another tourist-loved classic for suckling pig, this location boasts one of the city’s best views as well. Ask for a table on the second floor and you can see the stunning aqueduct from almost any window!

Plaza del Azoguejo, 5

Pastelería Limón y Menta: This small pastry shop is a great place for your afternoon snack. Don’t leave without trying their Ponche Segoviano, reportedly the best in town!

Calle Infanta Isabel, 2
