Little Italy

Homemade Mediterranean cuisine. A fantastic and extensive wine list. Live jazz performances providing the soundtrack. Need we say more? That’s what’s in store at Little Italy, home to one of our favorite meals on New Year’s Eve in Barcelona—in the trendy Born district, to be more specific. The locale offers a unique glitz and glamour that wouldn’t feel out of place in New York City, but with a distinctly European feel. There’s no classier place to ring in 2020!

Price: TBD for 2019

For an exotic fusion experience unlike any other, you can’t go wrong with Ikibana.

A masterful blend of Japanese and Brazilian cuisine, the menu at Ikibana delivers every day of the year, but they really pull out all the stops for their New Year’s Eve gala dinner. This multi-course culinary wonderland comes complete with some of the most exquisite sushi you’ll ever taste.

Restaurant Fonda España

Tradition and modernity come together beautifully at Fonda España, the signature restaurant at Hotel España.

Thanks to the leadership of acclaimed chefs Martín Berasategui and German Espinosa in the kitchen, Fonda España is a favorite among locals, despite its seemingly tourist-friendly location near Las Ramblas. It’s safe to say that the same local atmosphere will be at play during their 2019 New Year’s Eve dinner.

Berasategui has outdone himself with this year’s menu, which draws inspiration from local, traditional ingredients. Add in a selection of some of the finest Catalan wines, and you’re set to ring in the New Year like a stylish Barcelona local.

Restaurante Salamanca

Want to take a gastronomic journey around Spain on the last night of 2019? Restaurante Salamanca is calling your name.

The special New Year’s Eve menu brings together some of the finest ingredients and dishes from all across the country. We’re talking Galician shellfish, roast suckling pig from Salamanca, shrimp from Huelva—and that’s not to mention the stunning selection of Spanish wines, either. Your dinner purchase includes entrance to a cotillion that will keep the fiesta going well into the first several hours of the new year, so get ready to party.

You don’t have to go all the way to Rome to find a beautiful Italian-inspired meal this New Year’s Eve.

The nochevieja menu at Rossini is a celebration of Mediterranean cuisine, with dishes drawing inspiration from both Spain and Italy alike. Perfect for groups of friends, families and couples alike, the warm and welcoming atmosphere here makes it the perfect place to start your new year off right.

Hi Gary – La Rambla is crammed with many different restaurants for you to try on New Year’s Eve and almost everywhere has some sort of live music for the evening. Little Italy on this list is quite close to La Rambla and they always have a live band and singers for the night!

I think one of the best place to eat in Barcelona is Nomm on Paral-lel , they are modern asian restaurant and I had the best dishes in town, last time I went there they have served me the best Peking duck and Crab , ( a pre- order dishes) I also had the best dumplngs and Thai Prawn ceviche I will never forget and I am sure they will have something special for the Christmas menu for the people who want something different than the usual and have a special Christmas , this is place to go ..

Hi! Looking for a great, buzzy place to eat, where we can also view the fire works from Magic Fountain area NYE… family of 5, including 3 older teens… so has to be somewhere buzzy and fun but not right in the middle of the crowds…. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated? Thanks, Leanne

Hi Leanne and Rand! El Xalet de Montjuic has great views and is away from the crowds. Fernandez (in the Raval neighbourhood) has really good atmosphere, good food, and is a nice cozy place, but no fireworks. Check with them about their hours on NYE. Enjoy!

I had a really nice experience in El Foro, which is in El Born, the coolest hood in Barcelona. The food was amazing and the service was incredible.
    Regards and enjoy it!

Hi there—El Mall restaurant at the Crowne Plaza Hotel has a New Year’s Eve dinner: https://www.crowneplazabarcelona.com/en/restaurantes-y-bares/restaurante-el-mall The restaurant is less than a five-minute walk from the fountain. Enjoy New Year’s Eve in Barcelona!

2 days to go to Barcelona and haven’t booked any restaurant for NYE yet…! Is it possible to just slip in to a restaurant or do we need a reservation? Two adults+one teenager. Will be at the Plaza near la Rambla at 12 o’clock. Any suggestions are highly appriciated 🙂

That’s a bit tricky given the fact you need reservations for most places on a regular night, so that’s especially true on New Year’s Eve! You might try Etapes, which might not be booked out, or Casa Rafols, which is quite large! You could also try Cervecería Catalana, where they don’t take reservations–there will most likely be a long line though.

Good luck & happy New Year!

Hey there! Anywhere near the Magic Fountain of Montjuic, where the main festivities take place, will be your best bet for a party-like atmosphere. One of the closest options is El Mall: https://www.crowneplazabarcelona.com/en/restaurantes-y-bares/restaurante-el-mall It’s less than a five-minute walk away from the fountain, so you can enjoy dinner and then head to the party! Enjoy!
